Date added: 03/24/2011 Addressing Your Envelopes

Most wedding experts will tell you that the proper etiquette is to hand write your guest's addresses on your wedding invitation mailing envelopes. But let's get real for the day and age. I get questioned all the time about printing the addresses. So here is my how to. . . First you'll have to type the addresses into an excel file. It's a great idea to spend the time doing this anyway so you have the addresses organized for the future. Think of what a star you'll be when your able to send all those Christmas cards next year with ease! Back to excel. Make sure to have separate columns for the names, street address, city, state & zip. It'll work better for formatting when you do your mail merge in word. After you are done with excel, open a new word file. Click on file, page setup and paper. Then change the width and height to the size of your envelope. Then choose your font / typestyle and click on center and hit the enter key until you are in the center of the envelope / page. Then under "Tools", "Letters and Mailing" you'll see "Mail Merge". Click Mail Merge, choose Envelopes (next), Use Current Document (next) and Browse. Choose your file, click OK and then click OK again when you see the list (next). Click on more items and then insert the names, street address, city, state and zip. Then you'll be able to highlight the field to change the font to a script and highlight the rest to change to a block font / size etc.. Click next to preview and next to complete merge, and you are ready to print. You'll have to do a couple of test envelopes to figure out which way to load your envelopes and then you are ready to roll.
